Bombay HC rejects Raj Kundra's bail in porn film racket case

Raj Kundra's anticipatory bail has been rejected by the Bombay High Court. The Bombay High Court, on Thursday, rejected businessman Raj Kundra's anticipatory bail plea application in the 2020 cyber cell porn film racket case. Kundra was earlier arrested in July in another case that was being  investigated by the Mumbai Crime Branch . He got bail in that case in September. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius, this season’s lowest so far. Delhi’s air quality slipped into the ”very poor” category on Wednesday as low temperatures and slow surface winds allowed the accumulation of pollutants. The city’s 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) was 361. According to  India  Meteorological Department, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius, this season’s lowest so far. The maximum temperature settled at 28.8 degrees Celsius. Strong winds on Sunday and Monday had led to an improvement in the air quality. The 24-hour average AQI read 290 on Tuesday, the second-best AQI reading this month since November 1 when it was 281. Delhi has seen ’very poor’ or ’severe’ air quality on the rest of the days.   Neighbouring Faridabad (367), Ghaziabad (366), Greater Noida (312), Gurgaon (305) and Noida (325) also saw a dip in air quality on Wednesday. A Mohali court on Thursday sent Punjab Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira to judicial custody after he completed seven days of Enforcement Directorate remand in a case of money laundering. The court has fixed December 2 as the next date of hearing. Sukhpal Singh Khaira was arrested on November 11 under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED had raided his premises in March this year. He was produced in a PMLA court in Mohali and sent to the ED custody for a day. Earlier, the enforcement Directorate had sought a remand for 13 days, but Duty Magistrate Ranjan Kumar Khullar ordered the remand for seven days. Mr Channi made this announcement a day after the Punjab Assembly passed the Punjab Learning of Punjabi and Other Languages (Amendment) Bill, 2021, aimed at strictly enforcing the implementation of Punjabi as a compulsory subject for all students from classes 1 to 10 in the state. "To promote mother tongue, Punjabi has been made a compulsory subject for all students from class I to X in Punjab. Schools to be fined up to 2 lakh for violation," Mr Channi said in a tweet.   Ten more people, including three Indian Air Force personnel, tested positive for Zika virus in Kanpur on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 89, District Magistrate Vishak G Ayyar said. On Saturday, 13 people had tested positive for Zika virus. One case was also reported from neighbouring Kannauj district. "Out of the 89 infected people, 55 are men and 34 are women. Among these, 23 are those having age below 21 years. Of the total infected people, 12 are Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel. This includes 11 men and one woman," the district magistrate said. Health teams had collected blood samples of 525 people on Thursday, Friday and Saturday which were sent to the virology lab of the King George's Medical University in Lucknow and the National Institute of Virology in Pune for testing. In a statement issued here, Duraimurugan said that as per norms, the water in Mullaperiyar dam can be stored up to 142 feet on November 30 and the storage level will reach the day when the rainy season is expected to end. He said that as per the rule curve on water storage level, the water storage level in the dam was 138.75 feet against the rule curve of 138 feet and hence the state was forced to release the excess water. Ateam of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials has recorded the statement of Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede for a second time, sources told India Today.   Wankhede, who is facing  charges of bribery  and extortion, was with officials of the vigilance department for nearly four hours at the drug enforcement agency's office in New Delhi on Monday.   The NCB had initiated a probe led by Deputy Director General (DDG) Gyaneshwar Singh into allegations levelled against Sameer Wankhede by NCB's independent witness Prabhakar Sail, among others.
