JNU Ends Ties With Turkish Varsity, Joins National Boycott Wave Over Ankara’s Pakistan Backing

The three-year academic partnership between the two varsities was signed in February this year that is now cut short. New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), aligning itself with national interests, has officially terminated its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Inonu University of Turkey. Announcing the decision on X, the central university stated the cancellation was carried out “due to national security considerations”. The varsity reinforced its stance with a firm declaration – “JNU stands with the nation”. The MoU was signed on February 3, 2025. It was originally intended to remain in effect until February 2, 2028 – a three-year academic partnership now cut short. Due to National Security considerations, the MoU between JNU and Inonu University, Türkiye stands suspended until further notice. JNU hostel room roof collapses; students demand immediate repair

New Delhi: In yet another incident, the ceiling of a hostel room at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) partially collapsed, exposing the crumbling condition of the varsity infrastructure. The incident took place in Godavari Hostel when parts of the ceiling fell directly on a study table. Residents of the room did not suffer any injury but a laptop was damaged, said Swati Singh, who lives in the same hostel. "A part of the ceiling fell off in a room in the Godavari Hostel in JNU. Although there were no serious injuries to any resident, the residents of the room were sleeping nearby and the ceiling fell directly on their study table thereby damaging the laptop," said Swati Singh, president of the Democratic Students Federation (DSF). IIT Delhi: Trying to bring back Afghan students, JNU will also help students

  New Delhi: The   Taliban have captured most of Afghanistan, including the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul. After that the situation remains tense there. In this hour of crisis, institutions like IIT Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University have now come forward to help their students from Afghanistan.   Regarding the situation in Afghanistan, IIT said that it will try to bring Afghan students back to the campus. According to IIT Delhi, IIT Delhi will stand by its students and its alumni from Afghanistan in this hour of crisis. The institute has also started a helpline number for Afghan students. According to IIT Delhi, these two helpline numbers 91-11-26591713, 91-9811091942 have been issued for the students in trouble.
