5 kg IED seized near Indo-Pak border in Punjab CHANDIGARH: Just a month ahead of the assembly elections in Punjab, a Special Task Force (STF) of the Punjab Police on Friday recovered 5 kg of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and Rs 1 lakh in cash from near the India-Pakistan border. The seizure was made on the outskirts of Dhanoa village of Ajnala sub-division (sub-division) near Attari border on a tip-off about smuggling of arms and ammunition from across the border. STF Assistant Inspector General Rashpal Singh told the media, "On a special alert, our teams launched a search operation and found a suspicious packet in the fields. He said that initially it seemed that a consignment of drugs was kept in the packet. A bomb disposal squad was called on suspicion of explosives, the official said. 5 kg IED was found in the packet with one lakh rupees.
