Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh Not Communal, Issue 'Exaggerated': Yunus

During student-led violence after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ouster, the minority Hindu population faced vandalism of businesses, property damage, and temple destruction. Dhaka: Chief Adviser to Bangladesh's interim government, Muhammad Yunus, has said the issue of attacks on minority Hindus in his country is “exaggerated” and questioned the manner in which India projected it. In an interview with PTI at his official residence here, Yunus said the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh are more political than communal. He suggested that the attacks were not communal, but a fallout of a political upheaval as there is a perception that most Hindus supported the now-deposed Awami League regime. “I have said this to (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi also that this is exaggerated. Seema Haider and Sachin Meena were seen hoisting the Tricolour on Sunday as part of the "Har Ghar Tiranga" celebrations in Greater Noida. Pakistani citizen Seema Haider, who illegally entered India to live with Sachin Meena, was seen hoisting the Indian flag with her family in Noida ahead of India's 77th Independence Day. In a  video that has surfaced on social media,  Seema Haider and Sachin Meena were seen hoisting the Tricolour on Sunday as part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” celebrations at their residence in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida. Red Fort barricaded with shipping containers ahead of Independence Day

As the nation gears up for Independence Day, security has been beefed up at the Red Fort and other prominent areas. In a first, the Delhi Police have barricaded the Red Fort with shipment containers for security purposes. According to reports, the security arrangements have been made in view of the Red Fort violence on January 26, in which protesting farmers were accused of creating ruckus and clashing with Delhi police personnel. The police have also beefed up security arrangements at the nearby areas and keeping a strict vigil on anti-social elements. As per reports, the containers will be decorated with graffitis to gel with the Independence Day theme. The Delhi Police said in view of the farmers’ tractor rally on January 26 that took a violent turn in the national capital, they were taking no chances this time.
