6 Killed In Assam-Meghalaya Border Firing; Internet Services Suspended In 7 Meghalaya Districts

  Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma today confirmed that a total six persons including five from Meghalaya and one Assam Forest Guard were killed in the incident. Shillong:  Meghalaya has suspended mobile internet services in seven districts of the state for 48 hours after six persons including one Assam forest official were killed in firing in Mukroh in West Jaintia Hills on the border between the two states. “Mobile internet/data services have been suspended in seven districts of Meghalaya beginning from 10:30 am today”, a notification issued by the Home (Police) Department of Meghalaya government said. Big Agreement Between Assam And Meghalaya On Border Dispute

  Pradeep Kumar's report  –   Today a big settlement has been reached between Assam and Meghalaya regarding the border dispute. There is a dispute over the border at 12 places between Assam and Meghalaya. In the first phase, 6 disputed border sites have been resolved, while in the second phase, the remaining 6 places will be signed soon. Amit Shah has described this agreement as historic. Home Minister Amit Shah has said that "Today is a historic day for a dispute-free Northeast. Attempts have been made." The Home Minister further said that, “I am happy that today there has been an agreement between Assam and Meghalaya at 6 out of 12 points of dispute. In terms of the length of the border, about 70% of the border has become dispute free today. I am sure. We hope that the remaining 6 places will also be resolved in the near future.
