Pakistan stops gas, water and newspaper supply to Indian diplomats in Islamabad after Operation Sindoor

Pakistan’s actions breach 1961 Vienna Convention, which requires host nations to ensure all facilities for diplomatic missions under Article 25 PTC Web Desk:  In a retaliatory move following India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, Pakistan reportedly cut off essential supplies to Indian diplomats stationed in Islamabad. According to an India Today report, the Pakistani authorities stopped piped gas supply to the residences of Indian diplomats and instructed local cylinder distributors not to sell gas cylinders to them. In addition to gas, the supply of bottled mineral water and newspapers has also been suspended. The measures are believed to be part of a calculated plan by Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), aimed at exerting pressure through a series of small-scale retaliatory actions. The three-year academic partnership between the two varsities was signed in February this year that is now cut short. New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), aligning itself with national interests, has officially terminated its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Inonu University of Turkey. Announcing the decision on X, the central university stated the cancellation was carried out “due to national security considerations”. The varsity reinforced its stance with a firm declaration – “JNU stands with the nation”. The MoU was signed on February 3, 2025. It was originally intended to remain in effect until February 2, 2028 – a three-year academic partnership now cut short.
