First Successful Flight-Test Of DRDO's Indigenous Power Take Off Shaft On LCA Tejas In Bengaluru
Pradeep Kumar – The first successful flight-test of the Power Take Off (PTO) shaft on the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA Tejas) Limited Series Production (LSP)-3 aircraft was carried out in Bengaluru today. The power take off shaft has been indigenously designed and developed by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO)'s Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), Chennai. The PTO shaft, which is a critical component in the aircraft, will support the requirements of future fighter aircraft and their variants and offer competitive cost and short lead times in availability. With this successful test, DRDO has achieved a significant technological achievement by realizing the complex high-speed rotor technology that only a few countries have.
