October 2nd is Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, and he was a champion of non-violence. However, this day is a symbol of pain and anger for the people of Uttarakhand. It was on this day in 1994 that the Rampur Tiraha incident occurred, where police opened fire and brutalized peaceful protesters and raped women. The Leh Apex Body has announced to boycott the talks scheduled with the Union Home Ministry on October 6 on the issues of making Ladakh a full state and including it in the Sixth Schedule. Following recent violent protests demanding full statehood for Ladakh and inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, the Leh Apex Body (LAB) has decided to boycott talks with the central government. The organization has demanded a judicial inquiry into the deaths of four youths in security force firing during the September 24 protests. Around 90 others were injured during the violent protests. LAB co-chairman Chering Dorjay said, "The CRPF opened fire without warning, which is illegal. We want a judicial inquiry into why live bullets were used." Passengers may face difficulties for 13 days as no civil flights will operate during these days. According to the information, civil flight operations from the airport will remain closed for 13 days as the runway is undergoing renovation work. In this regard, the Indian Air Force has also announced by issuing a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM). The notice states that the airfield will be closed from 1 am on October 26 to 11.59 pm on November 7. Chamoli landslide: Death toll rises to seven as rescue teams recover five more bodies from rubble

Chamoli (Uttarakhand): Rescue teams on Friday recovered five additional bodies from the debris in rain-ravaged Chamoli in Uttarakhand, bringing the total death toll to seven. This follows the earlier recovery of two bodies on Thursday. Heavy rain caused landslides and flooding in four villages—Kuntari Laga Phali, Kuntari Laga Sarpani, Sera, and Dhurma—located in Chamoli's Nandanagar area on Thursday. The region of Nandanagar is already struggling with land subsidence issues. On Thursday, 12 people were injured, including five who were rescued alive from Kuntari Laga Phali and Dhurma villages.
