Chandigarh Airport: Big news for air travelers! Shaheed Bhagat Singh Airport will be closed for 13 days

Chandigarh Airport: Civil flight operations from the airport will remain closed for 13 days as runway repairs are underway. The Indian Air Force has also announced this by issuing a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).


Chandigarh Airport: There is big news for those travelling from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh. Passengers may face difficulties for 13 days as no civil flights will operate during these days.

According to the information, civil flight operations from the airport will remain closed for 13 days as the runway is undergoing renovation work. In this regard, the Indian Air Force has also announced by issuing a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).


The notice states that the airfield will be closed from 1 am on October 26 to 11.59 pm on November 7.


The NOTAM also states that the runway is closed due to planned Polymer Modified Emulsion (PME) work. During this time, only Rota ACS aircraft will be allowed to operate.


Airport sources further said that during this closure, an advanced Korean-made CAT-ILS-I (Instrument Landing System) will also be installed, which will improve flight operations in low visibility conditions.
