CJP Protest: Delhi schools shift classes online, colleges postpone exams amid security concerns; Here's all you need to know

Several Delhi schools and colleges have changed their schedules for October 10 ahead of a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar and possible metro disruptions.

Several schools and colleges in Delhi have changed their schedules for Saturday, October 10, amid security concerns and possible disruption of metro services ahead of a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar. While some schools have moved classes online, others have cancelled activities and rescheduled parent-teacher meetings. Two colleges have also postponed their mid-term examinations.

The changes come as authorities prepare for the proposed protest, with barricading in parts of New Delhi and possible restrictions at several metro stations raising concerns about students’ safety and travel.

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya Moves Classes Online

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya has announced that classes for students from Classes 6 to 12 will be conducted online on Saturday. The school cited extensive barricading in the New Delhi area and concerns about students’ safety.

The school has also discontinued its stay-back facility for Friday. The inauguration of Activity Week, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed. A new date for the event will be announced later.

Schools Cancel Activities, Reschedule PTM

Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School has rescheduled its parent-teacher meeting (PTM), which was scheduled for Saturday to discuss students’ report cards. The school said the revised schedule would be shared with parents soon.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya on Kasturba Gandhi Marg has cancelled sports day practice and enrichment classes for students of Classes 9 to 12 scheduled for Saturday.

The school said the decision was taken in view of the proposed Jantar Mantar protest and to ensure students’ safety.

Bharati Vidyapeeth College Postpones Mid-Term Exams

Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering in Paschim Vihar has postponed its mid-term examinations scheduled for Saturday to Monday, October 12, citing the possibility of metro service disruptions.

In a notice, the college said the decision was taken following directions from the dean of the University School of Information, Communication and Technology (USICT), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), and the Joint Commissioner of Police, Transport Range, Delhi.

The college said the examination timings would remain unchanged on the revised date.

Maharaja Agrasen Institute Also Changes Exam Schedule

The Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology in Rohini has also postponed its mid-term examinations scheduled for Saturday to October 12.

According to the institute, the decision followed a communication from the Delhi Police about anticipated restrictions on metro services.

The change was approved by the dean of USICT, GGSIPU, and the BTech Programme Coordination Committee. Department heads have been instructed to inform faculty members and students about the revised examination schedule.

The changes across educational institutions reflect concerns over student safety and commuting difficulties ahead of the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10.
