The family members are said to be residents of Battalapalli village in the Sri Sathya Sai district. They had reached Srisailam by auto-rickshaw on the 28th of last month and rented a room in a lodge. Police have initially investigated financial difficulties and heavy debt as possible reasons and are investigating further.


The family did not leave the room for three days.

It was reported that the family members initially went out daily and returned to the lodge for meals. However, no one left the room for three consecutive days. The lodge manager became suspicious after a foul smell emanated from the room. He tried to look inside through the window and found the family members dead. Srisailam police were immediately informed.


Police reached the spot and started investigation

Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the scene and, under the supervision of DSP Ramanji Naik, the room was opened. Police collected necessary evidence from the scene and began the process of sending the bodies for post-mortem examination. The deceased have been identified as Sudhakar (36), Gogula Adilakshmi (50), Malleswari (45), Sridevi (33), and Manikantha (15). Police are investigating the case from every possible angle.


Police suspect the family's financial condition

According to the police, three of the deceased women were sisters. Two had been abandoned by their husbands, while one was unmarried. One member of the family is believed to be 15 years old. Based on preliminary information, the police suspect the family was facing financial difficulties and debt problems. However, the actual cause of the incident will only be clear after the investigation is complete.


Devasthanam officials expressed displeasure over the lodge management

Upon learning of the incident, Srisailam Devasthanam Chairman Pothugunta Ramesh Naidu and Executive Officer Srinivasarao inspected the lodge. Both officials expressed displeasure with the lodge management's actions and questioned how the family was allowed to stay there beyond the stipulated 48-hour period. Officials stated that notices would be issued to the lodge management and other lodge operators in the area would also be instructed to strictly follow the rules.


Police engaged in investigation from every aspect

DSP Ramanji Naik said that financial difficulties are initially being considered a possible motive for the incident, but police are investigating all aspects. The families of the deceased have been informed of the incident. Officials urged people to contact family, trusted individuals, or professional help as soon as possible in case of financial or personal crisis. Seeking help in such a situation is not a sign of weakness, but an important step in choosing a safe path.
