Two Army soldiers injured in a mine blast near the LoC in Uri; airlifted to Srinagar

Two army soldiers were injured in a mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.


Srinagar: Two Indian Army soldiers were injured in a landmine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector on Tuesday, officials said. They said the two soldiers were injured in the blast at an advance post in Kamalkot area of Uri sector in Baramulla district. According to officials, the injured soldiers were given first aid on the spot and later airlifted to the Army's 92 Base Hospital. They said the cause of the blast was being ascertained.


According to reports, a massive mine explosion occurred near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir. Two Indian Army soldiers were seriously injured in the incident. According to official sources, the incident occurred near the 'Upper Garh Forward Post' located in the Kamalkot sub-sector of Uri. This area comes under the security surveillance of 8 Rashtriya Rifles (8 RR) of 12 Infantry Brigade. It is being reported that as the soldiers approached the forward post during patrolling, the mine suddenly exploded.


Upon receiving news of the explosion, the Army immediately launched a rescue operation. The two seriously injured soldiers were airlifted immediately after receiving first aid. They were transferred to the Army Base Hospital in Badamibagh, Srinagar, where a team of specialist doctors is treating them.



Identification of injured soldiers

The army identified the injured as Dafadar Vijay Kumar (42) and Naik Sharanpa Angari (28) of the 8th Rashtriya Rifles. Security agencies are currently investigating the cause of the incident and trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
