In Chhindwara, when an ambulance didn't arrive on time, the pregnant woman was carried across the river on a cot. She gave birth midway through the journey. Both mother and newborn are currently safe.

A case has emerged from Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh that has once again raised questions about the health system and basic amenities in rural areas. Here, family members used a cot to transport a pregnant woman suffering from labor pains to the hospital. Four people carried her across the river on the cot. During this time, the woman went into labor. She was later taken to the hospital by bike. The relief is that both mother and newborn are safe. However, this entire incident has raised many questions about the system. 

A pregnant woman was carried across the river on a cot. This incident occurred in Hathoda village, Amarwada block, Chhindwara district. According to reports, last Wednesday, a pregnant woman named Savita Vishwakarma suddenly experienced labor pains. Her family immediately called an ambulance, but the vehicle failed to arrive in time. The family members placed her on a cot and set off to take her to the hospital.

On the way to the hospital, there is a river where there is no bridge. Four young men carried the woman across the river on a cot. During this time, the woman delivered a baby. Fortunately, the river was not flowing heavily at the time, allowing the family to successfully cross the river.

After crossing the river, they found a dirt road, but the ambulance couldn't reach there either. Without delay, the family members put the woman and newborn on their bike and took them to Amarwada Civil Hospital. They were admitted there and their treatment began.

What did the BMO say?

Amarwada's BMO, Dr. Karush Thakur, stated that the ASHA worker had called an ambulance on time, but the ambulance failed to reach the scene. He explained that due to the lack of a bridge over the river, the family members were carrying the woman on a cot to cross the river. During this time, the woman delivered the baby. Both mother and child were later admitted to Civil Hospital Amarwada, where they are currently reported to be doing well. This entire incident has become a topic of discussion on social media. In the viral video, the woman can be seen lying on a cot, groaning in pain, and four young men helping her cross the river.
