West Bengal Exit Poll 2026 By Today’s Chanakya: BJP Eyes Big Win With 192 Seats, TMC Reduced To 100

West Bengal Exit Poll Results 2026 By Today's Chanakya: On vote share, BJP is projected to take a clear lead with 48% ± 3%, indicating a strong consolidation of support.

West Bengal Exit Poll Results 2026 By Today’s Chanakya: Public opinion firm Today’s Chanakya pointed to a possible shake-up in West Bengal politics, putting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) well ahead with a projection of 192+ seats in the 294-member Assembly. The Mamata Banerjee-led All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), which has governed the state for the past 15 years, is pegged at around 100 seats, while other parties appear marginal with just a couple of seats. A party or alliance needs 147 to form the government in West Bengal.

If the estimates translate into actual results, it would signal a significant political shift, with the BJP poised to dislodge the TMC after over a decade in power. The projections suggest a consolidation of votes in favour of the BJP, hinting at a broader change in voter sentiment across the state.

On vote share, the BJP is forecasted to lead with 48% ± 3%, followed by TMC+ at 38% ± 3%, reflecting a sizeable gap between the two main contenders. Other parties are estimated to receive 14% ± 3% of the vote.

West Bengal Exit Poll Results 2026: What Other Exit Polls Said

This is also the fifth exit poll to place the BJP in the lead, adding weight to the trend indicated by multiple agencies. Matrize estimated the BJP in the 146–161 range and the TMC between 125–140 seats. P-Marq offered a more optimistic scenario for the BJP at 150–175 seats, while placing the TMC at 118–138. Chanakya Strategies and Poll Diary also pointed to a BJP edge with varying margins.

That said, not all projections align as People’s Pulse suggested the TMC could retain power comfortably and Janmat Polls also gave the ruling party a strong showing. JVC indicated one of the closest contests among all estimates.

Taken together, the exit polls lean towards a BJP advantage, but as past elections have shown, the final verdict will only be known when counting takes place on May 4. Exit polls are based on post-voting surveys and may not always accurately predict the final results.

Mamata Banerjee Slams Exit Poll Predictions

Mamata Banerjee dismissed the exit poll projections indicating a win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), arguing that such forecasts are aimed at “shaking the confidence" of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers.

Striking a confident note, Mamata Banerjee said she trusts the voters of West Bengal to deliver a mandate in favour of her party, regardless of what the exit polls suggest. She maintained that the TMC is on course to return to power and form the “Ma Mati Manush" government once again.
