On Sunday, a local cricket match was underway in Visakhapatnam, where 21-year-old umpire Dola Ajith Babu and his colleague, Budumuri Chiranjeevi, were officiating. During the match, a dispute broke out between the players over a run-out decision. The dispute gradually escalated, forcing the umpires to intervene. The two tried to control the situation, but an angry spectator began abusing them.


The attack happened after the umpires were called to a different place.

According to police, after the match ended, a spectator named Kanta Kishore, 26, called the umpires to another location to resolve the matter. Ajit Babu and Chiranjeevi arrived at the scene with some friends, but the argument began again. This time, Kanta Kishore pulled out a knife and attacked both umpires.


Attack and death news

Kanta Kishore stabbed Ajit Babu in the chest, causing him to collapse on the spot. Chiranjeevi tried to escape, but he too was seriously injured. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital, but Ajit Babu's condition was critical. He was admitted to Apollo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.


Police action and investigation

Following the incident, senior police officer Malleswara Rao has launched an investigation. Police say raids are underway to arrest Kanta Kishore. They are also questioning other suspects who may be involved in the incident.
