Tensions escalated in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar after a 25-year-old man was beaten to death during a clash between two neighbours from different communities on Holi. The incident triggered massive protests in the area as angered public blocked a major road and set ablaze vehicles on Friday. The security has been tightened in the area.
As per a report by PTI, 25-year-old Tarun was killed in an altercation that was triggered after an 11-year-old girl threw a coloured water-filled balloon on the road and the water splashed on a woman from a different community. Argument between the two neighbours broke after the woman reportedly hurled abuses.
Situation escalated into violent clash and several people from both sides sustained injuries during the fight. Tarun suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the sources cited by PTI, members of the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad demonstrated a protest under the Uttam Nagar East metro station. A car and a motorcycle were set on fire and the traffic was blocked for several hours.

Four Arrested, Security Tightened In Uttam Nagar
Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the case, and further investigation is underway. Amid the rising tensions, the Delhi Police have intensified security arrangements in the area to maintain law and order and prevent any further tension.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Dwarka district, Kushal Pal Singh, said necessary measures are being taken to ensure peace in the locality. “In view of the incident that happened on 4th March, we have made adequate security arrangements. We have divided the area into zones, sectors and sub-sectors. Our motorcycles and vehicles are continuously patrolling." the DCP was quoted as saying by PTI.
