In a speech to North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly, Kim accused the US of "state-sponsored terrorism and acts of aggression."

"The current situation clearly proves that North Korea was right in rejecting US pressure and sweet talk to give up its nuclear weapons," he said, adding that North Korea's nuclear situation is now "irreversible."


Trump cannot confront North Korea.

For North Korea's Kim Jong Un, the Iran war reinforces the old belief that countries without nuclear weapons are vulnerable to US military power, while those with them can deter the US.


The timing of Kim's speech is significant. Trump recently indicated he is willing to resume talks with Kim, which could reopen diplomatic negotiations that broke down in 2019.

'America should accept North Korea as a nuclear power'

Kim's latest comments suggest that any future meeting will be significantly different from previous summits, which focused primarily on denuclearization. He has indicated he is willing to engage with Trump again, but only if the US recognizes North Korea as a nuclear power.
