Neglecting safety standards on the under-construction National Highway 124D in Ghazipur claimed the life of a young man. Ravindra Paswan, 30, died after falling into an 8-foot-deep pit on Tuesday. The administration, considering this a serious negligence, filed an FIR against the executing agency on Wednesday.
The incident occurred near Shaheed Veer Abdul Hameed Chowk in Jalalabad, under the Dullahpur police station area. An approximately 8-foot-deep pit was dug here for the construction of an underpass on NH-124D. Surprisingly, there were no barricades, warning signs, or adequate lighting at the site.
The accident occurred when the bike lost balance
It was reported that late Tuesday evening, 30-year-old Ravindra Paswan, a resident of Jalalabad, was passing by on his bike. While trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle, he lost his balance and fell straight into a ditch. The accident was so horrific that blood began flowing from his nose and mouth. With the help of villagers and police, Ravindra was pulled out of the ditch and taken by ambulance to Mau District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Ravindra had returned after earning money from abroad.
Ravindra was reportedly the third of five brothers. He married three years ago and had returned home just two months earlier after earning a living in Saudi Arabia. The family is in mourning. This incident has once again highlighted the negligence of the construction company, which has robbed a family of its happiness.
Case filed against the concerned firm
ADM Ayush Chaudhary stated that the accident occurred due to non-compliance with safety standards. A case has been registered against the concerned firm at the Dullahpur police station under relevant sections. A report has also been sent to NHAI to determine the responsibility of the engineers involved in the project. The process of providing all government-approved benefits to the family of the deceased has been initiated.
