Bhopal GRP police have arrested a notorious thief who committed thefts on trains. The accused is a foreign returnee and holds a B.Tech degree from Pune University. The thief apprehended by Bhopal GRP is educated and has traveled abroad. Afsha Begum, a resident of Agra, was traveling in coach A-1 of the Rajdhani Express. She reported to the Mumbai GRP that on January 20th, while the train was stopped at Bhopal station, an unknown assailant took advantage of her sleep and stole her purse, which was kept near her pillow. The purse contained gold jewelry and ₹35,000 in cash. The stolen gold is estimated to be worth approximately ₹340,000.


Upon registering the case, the Mumbai GRP intensified its investigation and initiated action based on technical evidence. Footage from approximately 200 CCTV cameras was used to develop a complete roadmap of the accused's activities, and the accused was taken into custody on January 30th.


During interrogation, the accused was identified as Pranjal Dixit, a resident of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. According to the GRP, the accused holds a B.Tech from Pune University and previously worked at a prestigious company, but quit due to disinterest. Pranjal has also been to London twice. During interrogation, he confessed to stealing passengers' wallets in AC coaches and said he had lost the stolen money in online gaming. He carried out the thefts in AC coaches . 


Police recovered a pair of gold earrings, two gold chains, and two women's rings from the accused. The total value of the recovered items is estimated to be approximately ₹7 lakh. The GRP produced the accused in court and took him on police remand. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he would get ready and come to the railway station, commit the theft in the AC coach, and then get off the train. The accused lives in a rented room in Bhopal.
