Saharanpur Shocker: One room, 5 dead bodies, all shot in forehead, know what exactly happened

According to the police, the bodies were discovered after locals alerted authorities about the incident.

Five members of a family were found dead inside a room of their house in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district. The deceased include Ashok (40), his wife Anjita (37), his mother Vidyawati (70), and his two sons Kartik (16) and Dev (13), according to Bhaskar English report.

What exactly happened?

According to the police, the bodies were discovered after locals alerted authorities about the incident. Ashok and his wife were found lying on the floor, while his mother and both children were found on the bed.

During the initial investigation, gunshot wounds were found on Ashok’s chest and on the foreheads of his two sons. Three country-made pistols were also recovered from the room.

Senior police officers and a forensic team reached the spot soon after the information was received. The house has been sealed to preserve evidence, and all mobile phones found at the scene have been seized for examination. Police said they are investigating the case from both murder and suicide angles, according to the report.

Ashok was working as an Amin in Nakur tehsil and had been appointed to the post after his father’s death. His younger son Dev was a Class 9 student at MTS Public School in the town, while elder son Kartik was studying in Class 10 at an inter-college in Nakur. Neighbours described the family as quiet and well-behaved, and said they were not aware of any disputes or conflicts involving them.

What did the police say?

Police said they are probing the case from three main angles. One possibility is that Ashok first shot his mother, wife, and two sons before taking his own life. Investigators are examining whether the incident was triggered by debt, job-related stress, domestic issues, or mental pressure.

Another angle being explored is that a family argument may have escalated, leading someone to fire at family members in a moment of anger before shooting themselves. Police are also not ruling out the involvement of an outsider. They are checking whether anyone else could have entered the house and carried out the killings.
