Fake Nike, Adidas and New Balance shoe factory busted in Delhi, owner arrested
The Delhi Police Crime Branch has uncovered a counterfeit shoe manufacturing unit in the Sonia Vihar area of Northeast Delhi. Counterfeit Nike, Adidas, New Balance, and Skechers shoes were being manufactured there. Police arrested the unit's owner, Sandeep Singh, and seized heavy machinery and thousands of counterfeit shoe parts.
The Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted a major counterfeit shoe racket. Raiding an illegal manufacturing unit in the Sonia Vihar area of Northeast Delhi, police uncovered the production of counterfeit shoes for renowned companies like Nike, Adidas, New Balance, and Skechers. Hundreds of counterfeit shoes were being produced daily at the factory.
This operation was carried out by the Crime Branch's Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Cell. Police received a tip-off that a counterfeit shoe factory was operating in the Ambe Enclave, Chauhan Patti, Sonia Vihar police station area of Northeast Delhi . Taking the information seriously, the police team first conducted an on-site investigation and gathered information from local residents.
Fake branded shoes busted
During the investigation, the police received strong indications that counterfeit shoes were being manufactured on a large scale. The Crime Branch then contacted the companies involved and informed their authorized representatives about the matter. After a preliminary investigation, the company representatives declared the shoes to be counterfeit. Following this, the police planned a raid.
A police team, accompanied by authorized representatives from the companies, raided the factory in Ambe Enclave. A fully operational illegal manufacturing unit was found on site, producing shoes bearing the names and logos of branded companies. The company representatives categorically stated that the unit was completely unauthorized and had not been granted permission to produce such shoes.
A large quantity of goods was recovered
During the raid, police seized heavy-duty heating presses, printing screens, and dyes used to print the logos and names of international sports shoe brands. A large quantity of counterfeit shoe manufacturing materials was also seized. Police also found over 10,000 counterfeit shoe uppers, which were to be printed with the names and logos of New Balance, Nike, Adidas, and Skechers.
In addition, the police also seized sticker sheets, PVC rolls, and other raw materials from branded companies. According to the police, the counterfeit shoes were manufactured in this unit in such a way that the average customer could not distinguish between the real and the fake.
DCP Crime Branch Sanjeev Yadav said that the factory owner, 44-year-old Sandeep Singh, has been arrested in this case. The accused is a resident of Ambe Enclave, Chauhan Patti, Sonia Vihar. He is a 12th-grade student and married with three daughters. Sandeep Singh is originally from Basti district in Uttar Pradesh and came to Delhi in 2000.
Police arrested the factory owner
Police investigations have revealed that Sandeep Singh began his career working at a printing press in Chawri Bazaar. He learned printing there. He later started his own printing business and gradually transformed it into a manufacturing unit for counterfeit branded shoes.
An FIR has been registered against the accused under sections related to fraud, forgery, and copyright infringement. Police are also investigating the areas where the counterfeit shoes were being supplied and who else is involved in this network.
