Relief for common people on the first day of the month! LPG cylinder becomes cheaper

LPG Cylinder Price- The government had reduced the prices of commercial LPG cylinders last month as well. The prices of domestic LPG cylinders have been unchanged for a long time.

Chandigarh. The government has reduced the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 10. The new rate has come into effect from today. Last month too, the price of a commercial cylinder was reduced by Rs 5. There has been no change in the price of a 14 kg domestic cylinder. In Chandigarh, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will now be available for ₹1,599.50. Earlier, it was ₹1609.50. In Ludhiana, its price has now become ₹1663, in Jalandhar ₹1679 and in Amritsar ₹1689.50.

The government has not made any change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders. In most cities across the country, the price of cooking gas ranges between ₹850 and ₹960. Currently, a domestic LPG cylinder is available for ₹853 in Delhi, ₹852.50 in Mumbai, ₹890.50 in Lucknow, ₹860 in Ahmedabad, ₹905 in Hyderabad, ₹916.50 in Varanasi and ₹951 in Patna.

How much will the cylinder cost?

According to the Indian Oil website, a 19 kg cylinder will now be available for ₹1580 in Patna, ₹1703 in Noida, ₹1585 in Lucknow, ₹1597 in Bhopal and ₹1597 in Gurugram. While the government had reduced the price of the cylinder by ₹5 in November, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder was increased by ₹16 in October. Now, the price cut has provided further relief.

How is the price of LPG determined?

LPG cylinder prices depend on several factors. Firstly, they are determined on the basis of Import Parity Price (IPP), which includes costs such as international gas price, dollar-rupee exchange rate, freight, insurance and taxes. Taxes and logistics costs vary across states, which leads to variation in LPG prices across states.

The cost of transporting gas from refineries or depots to cities, towns and remote areas also varies. Prices are generally higher in mountainous and remote areas as a result of higher transportation costs. Dealer margins, local regulations and distribution costs in urban and rural areas also affect the final price. Larger cities have better supply networks, resulting in lower transportation costs, while smaller towns or difficult geographical areas experience higher costs.
