President Draupadi Murmu is currently on a four-day visit to South India. An unexpected incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district when her helicopter became stuck in a concrete pit while landing. However, the situation was brought under control in a timely manner and prevented a major accident.


Emergency landing at stadium

President Murmu's landing was originally planned at Nilakkal, near Sabarimala, but due to bad weather, the helicopter was diverted to the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Pramadam, Pathanamthitta district. It was there that the helicopter's wheels sank into a concrete pit.


Video goes viral, employees pull out helicopter with their hands

A video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, showing police and firefighters manually pushing the helicopter out of the ditch. The scene was extremely sensitive, but thanks to the alertness and quick response, no one was injured. 

President is completely safe, his journey continues.

Immediately after the incident, President Draupadi Murmu disembarked from the helicopter and left for the Sabarimala temple by road. The administration has confirmed that the President is completely safe and that no changes have been made to her travel itinerary.


Administration alert, questions raised about landing site

Following the incident, local authorities and security agencies have raised questions about the condition of the landing site. Officials stated that the stadium was used in an emergency, but that landing site selection and inspection need to be more carefully considered to avoid similar incidents in the future.
