Brutality in Hardoi: Elderly woman attacked with brick for Rs 10, accused arrested

An incident that shames humanity has come to light in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. Here, 65-year-old Daya Kumari, who earns her living by begging on Nagheta Road, was attacked with a brick by a young man just because he refused to give her Rs 10. Seriously injured Daya Kumari was admitted to the district hospital, from where she was referred to Lucknow due to her critical condition.


The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, and the video is now going viral on social media. The police have arrested the accused Ramkumar.


According to the information, the incident happened on Saturday night, when Daya Kumari, a resident of Sathara Majra Manna Purva of Sursa police station area, was eating roti after begging near RR Inter College on Nagheta Road. Then Ramkumar, a resident of Bargadia Shahpur of Hariyawan police station area, asked her for 10 rupees. Daya Kumari refused to give the money, on which Ramkumar started abusing her. On protesting, he picked up a brick and hit Daya Kumari on the head several times, due to which she fell on the ground soaked in blood.


Life saved with the help of local people


Hearing the screams of the old woman, people from the vicinity rushed to the spot. Local resident Mukesh Kumar said that he was taking his family to Shiv Shakti Hospital when he saw a young man brutally beating an elderly woman. Mukesh and others chased and caught the accused and handed him over to the police. The injured Daya Kumari was immediately taken to the district hospital, where she was referred to Lucknow Trauma Center due to her critical condition.


Secret revealed from CCTV footage,accused arrested


After the CCTV footage of the incident surfaced, the police took immediate action. It is clearly visible in the viral video that Ramkumar is attacking Daya Kumari with a brick. CO City Ankit Mishra said that on the basis of the footage, the accused was identified and arrested. A case has been registered against him under Section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC.
