Punjab: Car parking dispute turns bloody, sharp weapons used, fingers chopped off

Jalandhar (Varun) – A dispute over parking in Bashirpura turned violent. About 9 people from a neighboring party attacked a father-son and his son-in-law sitting at a hardware shop with sharp weapons. During the attack, the attackers cut off 2 fingers of one person and took them away. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. A complaint has been given to the police of Rama Mandi police station in this regard.

Giving information, Bashirpura resident Harinder Singh said that he runs a sanitary and hardware shop at some distance from his house. On Tuesday, he had parked his car outside a house near the shop. He was his acquaintance, but his son Surinder Singh called and told him that the neighbor was abusing him for parking the car and he even punched him and broke the window of the car. Hearing this, Harinder Singh immediately reached the spot and explained to the neighbor, but he continued abusing him, after which he returned.

After some time, the neighbor's elder brother came to him to apologize, who advised his younger brother to explain, and the whole matter was settled.

Harinder Singh said that the whole matter was over, but on Wednesday evening, when his grandson and granddaughter were playing in the ground located in Surya Enclave, about 9 people from the neighbors attacked them. During the beating, the two somehow returned home, but after that the neighbors came to their shop with sharp weapons and attacked them. It is alleged that the neighboring women also came with sharp weapons, out of which one woman hit him on the hand with a sickle. The attackers also started beating Harinder Singh's son-in-law Lakhvir Singh and son Surinder Singh, who were sitting in the shop, with sickles and swords.

Harinder Singh said that the accused hit his son's hand with a sword, due to which two of his fingers were cut off and fell down. When the people around gathered, all the attackers fled. The three injured were rushed to a private hospital, where it was found that only two fingers of his son Surinder were missing. He said that they kept searching for the fingers for 4 hours, but after 4 hours the fingers that were separated from the hand were of no use, so the neighbors threw both the fingers on the road, which they took to the doctor and found that they were of no use now. In such a situation, Surinder Singh's hand was damaged, while Harinder Singh's hand and his son-in-law Lakhvir Singh's hand were cut and about 15 stitches were required. The police of Rama Mandi police station have registered a case and started searching for the accused.

After 24 hours, the police took action: Manoranjan Kalia

Senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia said that there is no such thing as law and order left in the city. He said that the fingers of a young man were chopped off openly and the police sat idly in the name of action. Kalia said that initially the police did not take action but when the matter came to their attention, they had to make 4 calls, after which the police went to take the statement and the next process of the FIR started. He said that although the higher officials of the Commissionerate Police are doing a good job, people are not getting justice at the police station level.
