Chandrapur: Bill of 77 thousand came for 2 bulbs and a switched off fan, this is the answer given by the electricity department

A poor farmer in Arjuni Shegaon village of Chandrapur received an electricity bill of Rs 77,110. Whereas there are only two bulbs and a non-functioning fan in the house. When the consumer reached the electricity office, the officials called it a technical mistake. This case highlights the negligence of Mahavitaran and warns consumers to be cautious.

A big negligence of the electricity department has come to light in Arjuni Shegaon village of Warora tehsil of Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. Here, a poor farm labourer Dada Lataru Bhoyar was sent an electricity bill of Rs 77,110 for the month of July.

The Bhoyar family has a small two-room house with only two bulbs and a defunct fan. There is no AC, no fridge and no heavy equipment in the house. Despite this, the electricity bill shows usage of 3841 units.

When the Bhoyar family saw this bill, they were shocked. The most shocking thing was that in the last one year, their total electricity usage was only 516 units. 106 units in August, 61 units in winter and in the rest of the months, the usage never exceeded 50 units.

On the morning of 23 July, when he reached the local assistant engineer Santosh Khobragade with the bill, he was told that it was a technical mistake. The officer said that he should only deposit an average of Rs 1000 and the next bill will be corrected automatically. This incident raises questions on the working style of the Mahavitaran department. It also teaches consumers to be cautious.
