7 times life imprisonment, 1 death sentence and more than 50 murders... the horrifying story of this serial killer will terrify you

Rameshwar Dham Ashram is located in Dausa, Rajasthan. For the last 6 months, a team of Delhi Police was keeping an eye on a special Baba in that ashram. Delhi Police was searching for that Baba for the last two and a half years.

Doctor Death Devender Sharma Serial Killer: He was sentenced to life imprisonment seven times and once to death. But despite this, the serial killer was released on parole twice. He is not a common serial killer who commits three-four murders. Rather, he is such a bloody beast who is accused of killing fifty people. The amazing thing is that both the times after coming out of jail on parole, he disappeared. Now he has been arrested for the third time. This is the horrifying story of that 'Doctor Death', out of the fifty people killed by whom, even one body has not been found till date. The reason will surprise you.

Hazara river is present in Kasganj of Uttar Pradesh. This river is famous for its historic bridge. Which is also called Jhaal Ka Pul or Nadarai Ka Pul. This bridge was built by the British near Nadarai village situated at the mouth of Kasganj. This beautiful looking Hazara river has hidden or nurtured many crocodiles inside its flowing water. Compared to all the rivers in the country, the crocodiles present in this Hazara river have probably devoured the most humans. At least the record of devouring dead humans, if not alive, is probably in the name of these crocodiles of Hazara river.

The name of Devendra Sharma is associated with this river, whom the doctors, police and media know more by the name of 'Doctor Death'. Devendra Sharma, i.e. Doctor Death, alone threw at least 50 dead people with his own hands to become prey to the crocodiles present in the Hazara river.

Rameshwar Dham Ashram is situated in Dausa, Rajasthan. For the last 6 months, a team of Delhi Police was keeping an eye on a special Baba in that ashram. Delhi Police was searching for that Baba for the last 2 years. Police was close to that Baba, but the problem was that his face and demeanor had changed so much that the police itself was confused whether this Baba was the same one for whom they had come here? Long hair, unkempt beard and old age had completely changed the appearance of that person, whom the police was searching for.

Now, it was a difficult task to arrest a baba inside an ashram on the basis of mere suspicion. Hence, the police started matching the baba's old photographs and videos, especially his eyes and nose. In fact, despite his increasing age or changed appearance, the eyes are the only thing that helps in catching a person easily. Because eyes do not change. Similarly, the shape of the nose also does not change. And when the baba's identity was confirmed with the help of these eyes and nose, then last Sunday, the police who had been waiting for a long time in and around this ashram, finally got success after almost two and a half years.

Devendra Sharma alias Doctor Death, a serial killer who has committed 50 or more murders, jumped parole twice, got sentenced to seven life sentences and one death sentence, was now caught by the police for the third time. 67-year-old Devendra Sharma is the serial killer who killed 50 or more people in just 6 years from 1998 to 2004. Devendra Sharma was an Ayurvedic doctor, his home was in Aligarh but later he started practising at Janta Clinic in Bandikui, Rajasthan. He practised at Janta Clinic for about 11 years. During this time, he tried to get a dealership of a gas company with the money he earned from his practice. But in 1994, some people swindled his entire savings of about 11 lakh rupees in the name of dealership.

After this, Devendra Sharma returned to Aligarh. He became friends with another doctor from Delhi. Together with that doctor, he started a kidney transplant racket. He and his fellow doctor used to earn 5 to 7 lakh rupees for one kidney transplant. This business started running, but the number of kidney patients was high and the number of donors or those who were willing to donate their kidneys for money was low. This is where a horrifying idea came to Devendra Sharma's mind.

Under this idea, he first opened a fake gas agency in Aligarh. Now he started booking trucks in the name of this gas agency. Especially those trucks which used to carry gas cylinders. He would kill the truck driver within a radius of 50-60 km of Aligarh whenever he got a chance. He would steal the cylinder and then throw the body of the truck driver in the Hazara river. Because he knew that there are so many crocodiles in this river that no one's body would ever be found.

But after some time Devendra realized that the truck case could become dangerous for him in the future. So, he changed his way of working. Now he started booking taxis. Then whenever the taxi would pass through the Hazara river or near it, he would kill the taxi driver at the right time. Then he would throw his body in the Hazara river to become food for crocodiles. Whereas he would take away his taxi and sell it in the black market at very low prices.

Devendra Sharma was finally caught in 2004 while attempting to murder one such taxi driver. After his arrest, when the police investigated, they found that Devendra had murdered a total of 21 taxi drivers. That is why initially the police filed a case of 21 murders against Devendra Sharma. But the police was shocked when one day after his arrest, Devendra Sharma himself revealed to the police that he had murdered not 21 but about 50 taxi and truck drivers. He also told that after every murder, he deliberately threw the dead body in the Hazara river so that the police could never find any evidence of the body. After his revelation, a search operation was also launched in the Hazara river. But Devendra Sharma was right. The police has not found the body of even one of the 50 people killed by him till date.

Later, the trial proceedings began. Since the body of none of the people killed by Devendra Sharma was found, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment in only 7 cases. While in a murder case in Gurugram, the court awarded him death penalty. The verdict in the remaining cases is yet to come. All the taxis booked by Devendra Sharma were from Delhi and Gurugram.

The convict, who had received seven life sentences and one death sentence, was lodged in Jaipur Central Jail till 2020. Due to his good conduct in the jail, he was released on parole for a few days in 2020 itself. But Devendra Sharma, who came out on parole, never went back to jail. A few months after absconding on parole, the Delhi Police Inspector received information from an informer that Devendra Sharma was hiding in Delhi with his second wife after changing his name. He had now started working as a property dealer in Delhi. Finally, Delhi Police arrested him on the information of the informer. Devendra Sharma was lodged in Tihar Jail since this arrest in 2020.

After 3 years, in 2023, once again due to the good conduct of Devendra Sharma, he got parole for two months. He got this parole on 3 June 2023. As per rules, he had to reach Tihar Jail by the evening of 2 August. But Devendra Sharma once again managed to dodge the police and the law. He had jumped parole for the second time and escaped. Now a special team of Delhi Police is formed just to catch him. Devendra Sharma keeps dodging the police for almost two and a half years. But then finally an information received about 6 months ago finally leads the police to Devendra Sharma.

Actually, in 2020, when Devendra Sharma jumped parole and escaped, he went to Dausa and met two people there. Delhi Police was keeping a close watch on both of them in Dausa. Six months ago, it was confirmed that he was in an ashram in Dausa. Six months later, the Delhi Police team finally traced Devendra Sharma who was living in this ashram in the guise of a Baba and in this way Doctor Death was in the clutches of law for the third time.

But the question is how did a serial killer like Devendra Sharma, who has been sentenced to seven life sentences and one death sentence, get parole twice. That too when he had violated the very first condition of parole. When he did not return to jail after the parole period ended. If his conduct inside the jail is good in the future too, will he get parole for the third time on this basis alone? This question is serious.
