NIA is also going to tighten its grip on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,
who was arrested in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK
Saxena has recommended for NIA investigation against Arvind Kejriwal.
LG of Delhi has recommended NIA investigation against CM Kejriwal
in the matter of taking funds from pro-Khalistan organization Sikh for Justice.
He has made this demand by writing a letter to the Home Ministry. In a letter
to the Home Ministry, he said that since the allegations are against the CM and
relate to alleged funding of millions of dollars to a political party from a
terrorist organization banned in India, forensic investigation including
electronic devices produced by the complainant in the case will be carried out.
Investigation is also needed.
What complaint did Delhi LG receive?
The LG had received a complaint against AAP for receiving US$16
million from Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice for facilitating the release of
Devendra Pal Bhullar and promoting pro-Khalistani sentiments. VK Saxena also
referred to a letter written by Kejriwal to Iqbal Singh in the Home Ministry in
January 2014, in which it was mentioned that "The AAP government has
already recommended the release of Professor Bhullar to the President and the
SIT Will work sympathetically and in a time bound manner on other issues
including formation of IPC etc."
Who complained against Kejriwal?
This complaint was made by Ashu Mongia, National General Secretary
of World Hindu Federation India and former Aam Aadmi Party worker Munish Kumar
Raizada. The complainants have also cited a video material in which Gurpatwant
Singh Pannu was allegedly involved. These people allege that the Kejriwal-led
Aam Aadmi Party received a huge amount of USD 16 million from the Khalistani
group between 2014 and 2022.
Who is Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar?
Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar is guilty in the 1993 Delhi bomb blast
case. Bhullar was convicted in the blast outside the Youth Congress
headquarters in Delhi that killed nine people and injured 31 others. He was
arrested after being deported from Germany. Bhullar, lodged in Tihar jail since
1995, was sentenced to death by the court in August 2001, but in 2014 his death
sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.
