Civil Aviation Ministry seeks report from Air India Express after flight cancellation

Air India Express on Wednesday faced illness across its flight operations as around 70 flights, mostly international flights, were canceled or delayed due to illness among its crew members.


The Civil Aviation Ministry has sought a detailed report from Air India Express regarding the recently canceled flights and urged the airline to resolve the issues immediately. About 70 flights, mostly international flights, were canceled or delayed due to senior crew members falling ill.

Additionally, Air India Express has been advised to ensure that passengers are provided facilities as per Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) norms.

The call for action comes after Air India Express faced major disruption in its flight operations on Wednesday, with around 70 flights, mostly international flights, being canceled or delayed due to senior crew members falling ill. Done.

The situation has raised concerns within the Civil Aviation Ministry, which is closely monitoring the developments.

According to ministry sources, the cancellations and delays began on Tuesday night and continued till Wednesday morning, forcing the airline to cut back on its scheduled operations. Flights were halted due to the sudden shortage of crew members, affecting both domestic and international routes.

The airline confirmed that some senior crew members switched off their mobile phones just before flight operations citing health issues.
