Suchana Seth News: Suchana Seth, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of an AI start-up
company, arrested for the murder of a four-year-old son in Goa, has been sent
to police custody by the court. Meanwhile, the police has claimed that
Seth had attempted suicide after killing his son.
Goa Police had arrested the accused
Suchana Seth on Monday (January 8) night from Chitradurga, adjacent to
Karnataka. He was brought to Goa on Tuesday (January 9) and sent to police
custody for six days by a court in Mapusa city, an official said.
How
was the son murdered?
A senior police officer said that the 39-year-old entrepreneur had strangled
his son to death in a room of a service apartment in Candolim, where both of
them had arrived on January 6. The officer said that the woman then tried
to commit suicide by cutting her left wrist with a sharp object.
The officer said the motive for the
murder was not immediately known, but Seth told police that she and her husband
were separated and their divorce proceedings were underway. He said, “The
blood stains found on a towel in the service apartment were from the blood that
came out after cutting the wrist.”
What did the police say?
According to the police, after killing her son, the start-up CEO packed the
body in a bag and left for Bengaluru by taxi on Monday.
Police said the murder came to
light when the apartment's cleaning staff went to clean the room where she was
staying and noticed blood stains on the towel. The service apartment
management informed the Calangute police.
A police inspector spoke on phone
to the taxi driver who was going to Bengaluru in Karnataka and had reached
Chitradurga in the state and asked him to take the accused to the nearest
police station. A team of Calangute police reached Chitradurga and
obtained transit remand of the accused, after which he was brought to Goa.
According to Seth's LinkedIn page,
she is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the start-up 'Mindful AI Lab' and
was included in the Top 100 Brightest Women in 'AI Ethics' for 2021.
What
is the motive of murder?
The officer said, “The motive for the murder is not yet known. We have got
six days' custody of the accused and we will interrogate him thoroughly. Eyewitnesses
said that the owner of this building named 'Sol Banyan Grand' has instructed
the security guards not to allow anyone, especially media persons, to enter.
He said that other guests present
inside the complex will be able to stay there.
Speaking to news agency PTI, a
local cab operator said, “The taxi that Seth had hired was not from the area
around the service apartment. She came from somewhere else.” A senior
police officer said that immediately after receiving information about the
incident, a team of forensic experts inspected the service apartment on Monday.
