Who is Masrat Alam?

According to The Hindu, Masarat Alam was one of the main organizers of the pro-independence protests that took place in the valley in 2010. Alam was arrested along with many other leaders after the protests during that period and was released in 2015 when Mehbooba Mufti government came to power. Only after this there was a rift in the alliance of PDP and BJP.
