Will a ray of hope reach 40 lives in the tunnel today? Latest update of fast drilling and rescue by American machine

For the last 6 days, 40 laborers are trapped in the Silkyara tunnel under construction on Yamunotri National Highway. Friday is the sixth day of the rescue operation.

Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse: Rescue operation is going on to rescue the workers trapped in Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi. Even after 6 days of the incident, the workers could not be evacuated. The help of American machines is being taken to evacuate the workers. With its help, drilling work has been started.

Rescue operation continues in Silkyara Tunnel

For the last 6 days, 40 laborers are trapped in the Silkyara tunnel under construction on Yamunotri National Highway. The rescue team has started drilling work again on Thursday with the American auger machine. Let us tell you that earlier an auger machine was brought from Dehradun but that machine was damaged. After this, the American Auger machine was airlifted from Delhi to Uttarkashi by an Air Force aircraft.  

Rescue with Jack and Push Earth Auger Machine

Now the rescue operation is being carried out with the new Jack and Push Earth Auger machine. The installation work of this heavy auger machine has been completed. The rescue team has gained hope as the 9 meter pipe was drilled without any problem. It is hoped that the workers will be evacuated by making an escape tunnel. 

Because of this there is trouble in rescue

Let us tell you that the workers are trapped about 200 meters from the entry point of the tunnel. The rescue team is facing problems because this part of the tunnel is very weak. More debris falls back from above than is removed. This is the reason why even after 6 days of the accident, the rescue team has not been able to reach the workers.

Workers will come out with the help of steel pipe

Efforts are being made to take out the workers with the help of the new Jack and Push Earth Auger machine. 800 and 900 mm wide steel pipes are being inserted among the debris more than 50 meters long. The rescue team is trying to rescue each laborer from inside by inserting a steel pipe across the debris. 

Let us tell you that a part of the tunnel being built between Silkyara and Dandalgaon suddenly collapsed on Sunday, November 12. 40 workers got trapped inside the tunnel in the accident. Oxygen, water and food items are being sent to the workers inside the tunnel. Conversation is also taking place through walkie-talkie. It is being told that all the workers are safe.
