Exclusive | Retd Justice Dhingra Speaks On Sanatan, Says 'No Expectations From TN Govt'
“It has become very common for politicians to bash Hindus but as such a low level I never imagined," Dhingra said.
Two hundred and sixty two people, including 14 former judges on Tuesday, September 5 wrote to Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud requesting for “suo moto cognisance of Hate Speech made by Udhayanidhi Stalin.” Justice SN Dhingra (Retd), Signatory to the letter while speaking to Republic World Network threw light on the “lethargic” law and order system in Tamil Nadu.
We have no expectation that the state of Tamil Nadu will act against its own minister. In these circumstances, it is only the Supreme Court who can give direction and hence we have written a letter to the SC: Justice SN Dhingra (Retd), Signatory to the letter, #LIVE on Republic… pic.twitter.com/R6Pjwi9A02

“We have no expectation that the state of Tamil Nadu will
act against its own minister. In these circumstances, it is only the Supreme
Court who can give direction and hence we have written a letter to the SC,”
said Dhingra.
Dhingra also threw light on how “Hindus were being bashed”.
“It has become very common for politicians to bash Hindus but as such a low
level I never imagined. It was the most filthy statement made by any person.”
Dhingra further said, “They are bashing Hindu Dharma, in
order to gain sympathy from some people and some voters. There are many bad
things that are not good in any religion. If you are comparing ‘Sanatan Dharma’
with COVID, dengue, and malaria it shows your sick mentality.”
What does the letter
state?
The letter addressed to the Chief Justice of India by 262
people, asserts that the remarks made by Udhayanidhi Stalin come under the
ambit of hate speech and are capable of provoking discord among religious
communities.
The letter says that the statements made by Stalin have
caused “anguish in the hearts and minds of common citizens... Especially those
who believe in Sanatan Dharma.” The remarks of Udhayanidhi Stalin could cause
communal disharmony and sectarian violence, suggests the letter.
The letter also highlights that Udhayanidhi Stalin not only
made the comments but also refused to apologise for the same, and further
justified them. “Not only did he make a hate speech but Udhayanidhi Stalin
refused to apologise for his remarks. Rather he justified himself..” said the
letter.
