Gurdaspur Flood News: After
the release of Pong Dam water in Himachal Pradesh, its effect is being seen in
Gurdaspur district where flood-like conditions have arisen. Due to this,
the administration has deployed NDRF SDRF teams to rescue people. Gurdaspur
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Agarwal has also issued a toll free number for the
security of the people.
On this, people can give information
about themselves by calling. It is noteworthy that the old Shala Mukerian
Road of Gurdaspur has completely collapsed after the water was released from
the Pong Dam on Tuesday afternoon. When the local people got the
information about this, they started building a dam.
After this, the administrative officials started reaching
the spot. Immediately, the local people have started helping each other. However,
the people allege that the administration is not helping them, while their
accommodation and food are being arranged by the gurdwara management.
Amid the flood-like
conditions, people are helping each other and people are being evacuated by
tractor-trolley. People's animals are also trapped in the water and 4 to 5
feet of water has entered people's houses in the area. Due to the water on
the main road, people are facing difficulty in commuting to the villages.
The administration has closed
the main road from Purana Shala to Mukerian Jalandhar. Police personnel
have been deployed here so that no one can go straight ahead with a vehicle and
the administration is appealing to the people not to come from Gurdaspur to
Mukerian Purana Shala so that people's lives can be saved. can 12 to 15 villages
of Gurdaspur district have been affected where water has reached above four to
five feet. SDM and officers of Gurdaspur are helping each other. 5
feet of water has reached 15 villages including Jagatpur Tanda Daupur, Nadhala
Bhaini Paswal.
