Andaman: PM Modi inaugurates new terminal of Veer Savarkar International Airport

 Veer Savarkar International Airport: PM Modi today inaugurated the new terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport located in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar. This airport is quite different from other airports in the country.


New Delhi:  Veer Savarkar International Airport: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the new terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport located in Port Blair, Andaman Nicobar. PM Modi has participated in this program through video conferencing. It is believed that the connectivity of Andaman will gain momentum with the construction of the new terminal. Connectivity for Delhi, Chennai, Visakhapatnam will be improved from this airport. Due to which Andaman's economic development will be faster. Let us tell you that Rs 710 crore has been spent in the construction of this terminal building. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia was present during the inauguration ceremony. During this, Prime Minister Modi said that by changing the name of the islands of Andaman, he was freed from the signs of slavery.

These are the specialties of Veer Savarkar Airport

With the opening of the new terminal of Veer Savarkar Airport in Port Blair, now more than 11,000 people will be able to fly daily. Whose capacity till now was only 4000. With this, now 10 aircraft will be able to stand at the airport simultaneously. Along with this, the way for the arrival of new planes has also been cleared.


The new terminal building of this airport is spread over 40,800 square meters. According to the information, this terminal building is capable of serving about 50 lakh passengers every year. Along with this, an apron suitable for two Boeing-767-400 and two Airbus-321 type aircraft has also been made at Port Blair Airport at a cost of Rs 80 crore.

A government statement said that the architectural design of the new terminal of this airport has been inspired by nature. Which looks like a conch shaped structure depicting sea and islands. This airport will be operated from a solar power plant with a capacity of 500 kW.

 

Apart from this, this terminal building will get 100 percent natural light for 12 hours from the skylights on the roof. Along with this, air traffic will get a boost and local tourism will also increase rapidly. The new terminal building has 28 check-in counters and three passenger boarding bridges equipped with four conveyor belts.

The design of this airport is inspired by the conch shell which reflects the identity of the island. Double insulated form system has been installed to save energy and reduce the internal heat of the building.
