US Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Choljian of the
Central District Court on Wednesday issued a 48-page order, saying that
62-year-old Rana should be extradited to India under the extradition treaty
between India and the US. "As far as the question related to Tahawwur
Rana is concerned, we are in regular touch with the US authorities for his
(Rana's) early extradition," Kwatra said. He said that we have seen
the decision given by the local court of America. Our dialogue with the
American side is on in this regard.

Los Angeles jail
In the order issued by the Central District Court,
it was said that the court has reviewed, considered all the documents presented
in support and opposition to this request and has also considered the arguments
presented in the hearing. "Based on such review and for the reasons
discussed herein, the court concludes and authorizes the United States
Secretary of State to proceed with extradition," the court said in the
order. Rana is currently in jail in Los Angeles. He can appeal to the
circuit court, which can uphold the district court's decision.
