Efforts to reintroduce the animal gained momentum in 2020 when the Supreme Court of India ruled that the African cheetah, a separate subspecies, could be introduced into the country on an experimental basis in "carefully selected locations".

The first batch of cheetahs from Namibia brought to India

He was also kept in Quarantine in August before the translocation of Big Cat. After this he was released in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had reached the National Park to release the leopard.

Cheetahs brought from Namibia have been released in Kuno National Park, 320 kilometers (200 mi) south of New Delhi. These cheetahs are completely safe here. Hepatorenal (kidney and liver) infection has been found in one of the eight African cheetahs brought from Namibia in mid-September last year and released in Kuno National Park in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh. This is a female cheetah named Sasha. It is being treated by three veterinarians and the condition is also improving.
