Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi...: Virender Sehwag gives no-nonsense verdict on India's defeat to Bangladesh
After India's defeat to Bangladesh in the 2nd ODI of the three-match series which ensured they went 2-1 down in the series, Virender Sehwag gave a no-nonsense verdict on India's shambolic display. India have suffered a second successive series defeat in the 50-over format having lost in New Zealand too.
2022 continues to go from bad to worse for the Indian cricket team as
they hit another low on Wednesday (December 7) after a Bangladesh confirmed
series victory over the Men in Blue with a 5-run win in the second ODI at the
Sher-E-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
This is only the second time in history that Team India have
lost an ODI series against Bangladesh having also lost on their last visit to
the country for a 50-over battle under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. This is
India's second successive defeat in an ODI series having also lost an away
series to New Zealand last month.
Following India's defeat, ex-Indian opening batter Virender
Sehwag gave a no-nonsense verdict on India's embarrassing defeat.
Sehwag gave an honest but witty verdict by comparing India's poor performances
in recent times to sliding prices of crypto currency. Sehwag called for a
'shake up' in the team.
"Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi hai apni performance yaar.
Need to shake up - wake up," wrote Sehwag on Twitter in the aftermath of
India's defeat.
Earlier Bangladesh had taken a 1-0 lead by winning the
series opener by 1-wicket with an incredible 51-run partnership by Bangladesh's
10-wicket pair of Mehidy Hasan and Mustafizur Rahan after it looked like an
India win was a formality.
Mehidy was once again the star for Bangladesh in the second
game as he scored a century to help the hosts put up a big total of 271 on the
board after being 69-6 at one stage. In response, India's top-order failed but
a 107-run partnership from Shreyas Iyer and Axar put them back on track before
their dismissals left India on brink of defeat. Rohit Sharma walked out to bat at number nine with
a bandaged thumb and played a spectacular knock of 51 in just 27 balls but
could not take his team home.
