About Rs 20 crore has been recovered from the house of Arpita Mukherjee, a minister in the Trinamool government and close aide of party leader Partha Chatterjee.

Kolkata. The Enforcement Directorate has taken major action in the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam in West Bengal. About Rs 20 crore has been recovered from the house of Arpita Mukherjee, a minister in the Trinamool government and close aide of party leader Partha Chatterjee. After this action, it is believed that many more names may also appear in this scam. Earlier on Friday, the ED has also questioned Partha Chatterjee. ED officials reached Partha Chatterjee's house for questioning at 8 am.

In this case, it is being feared that a large amount of money has been exchanged for recruitment. So far, many famous people have also been nominated in this case. The ED has also taken action by raiding the house of the current state minister of state for education, Paresh Chandra Adhikari. This scam happened when Partha Chatterjee was the education minister of the state.

What is SSC scam
In November last year, a bench of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the Kolkata High Court ordered a preliminary CBI inquiry into the deficit in recruitment of Group D staff in government schools in West Bengal. This order was given during the hearing on the petition of a candidate.

According to media reports, the court had found that at the root of the alleged scam was a high-powered supervisory committee set up by the then Education Minister Partha Chatterjee. Partha Chatterjee has also appeared before the CBI twice in this case.
