Sidhu Moosewala’s murder: Punjab Police makes first arrest from Uttarakhand
The Punjab Police has made its first arrest in Sidhu
Moosewala’s murder case. The Punjab police arrested accused Manpreet Singh from
Uttarakhand. After being produced in a Mansa Court, Manpreet Singh was sent to
5-day police remand.
According
to the sources, Manpreet Singh, a known drug dealer has been sent to five days
in police custody. He has also been arrested earlier for arms related crimes,
attempt to murder, rioting, and unlawful gathering.
Sources
also reported that Manpreet Singh, a resident of Faridkot in Punjab, was
allegedly trying to hide among the pilgrims, who were on their way to Hemkund
in Chamoli district, when police arrested him on Monday afternoon.
Earlier,
on Monday in a joint operation with the STF, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, the
Punjab Police have detained six persons from Dehradun's Peliyon Police Chowki
area in connection with Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moosewala's
murder.
According
to sources, the Uttarakhand STF and the Punjab STF, in a joint operation with
the Dehradun Police, detained six persons who allegedly helped in the killing
of Sidhu Moosewala by cordoning off the Shimla bypass Naya Gaon outpost.
All
six detained persons are being questioned by the Punjab Police. Confirming the
same, Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said he had been told by the Uttarakhand STF
that some of the detained people had been taken by the Punjab Police for
questioning.
Sidhu
Moosewala was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29, Sunday. He
was transported to the hospital with several bullet injuries but was
declared dead on arrival.
The incident took place a day after his security was
withdrawn by the Punjab police among 424 others. Notably, the singer had joined
the Congress party last year in December ahead of the Assembly elections.
