Patiala Violence: Shiv Sena leader Harish Singla arrested by Patiala police

Shiv Sena Punjab leader Harish Singla has been arrested by the police today in connection with a clash between Shiv Sena and Sikh groups in Patiala. Earlier, Harish Singla Patiala, a controversial leader of Shiv Sena Punjab, was expelled from the party.


Patiala: Shiv Sena Punjab leader Harish Singla has been arrested today in connection with a clash between Shiv Sena and Sikh groups in Patiala. Earlier, Harish Singla Patiala, a controversial leader of Shiv Sena Punjab, was expelled from the party. The party's Punjab state president Yoga Raj Sharma said the action was taken on the orders of Uddhav Thackeray's national president Shiv Sena. 

 In fact, in Patiala, Punjab, organizations belonging to two different religions have clashed with the police. The clash is over the procession. When stopped by police, one group pelted him with stones and the other attacked him with a sword. According to police, both the communities were not allowed to take out the procession. 

The SHO was injured in the whole incident, while three or four jawans were also injured in the incident. Following this meeting the District Magistrate imposed curfew in Patiala which would be effective from 7 pm till 6 am tomorrow, besides section 144 has been enforced in the entire district.

While Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray had announced to march against Khalistan, some other organizations including Baljinder Singh Parwana, leader of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar and Damdami Taksal Jatha Rajpura had announced in favor of Khalsa. Sikh youth leaders and Nihang Singh have also arrived.

 The situation in Patiala today has become tense due to clashes between Hindu organizations and Sikh organizations. Although the situation was brought under control by the police, the incident is being taken seriously by CM Bhagwant Mann. Following the incident, CM Bhagwant Mann has convened a high level meeting. In which all the senior officers related to law and order including DGP VK Bhawra have been summoned.
