WOMEN SECURITY SQUADS STARTED FOR THE SAFETY OF WOMEN IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR

Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken a big step regarding the safety of women. So that the women in the valley feel safe and the confidence of the people in the police can be better. The police started it from Srinagar. It will be extended further in the future.

At present, two women safety squads have been formed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure the safety of women in Srinagar. DIG Central Kashmir Sujit Kumar flagged off the first patrol of these squads. He lauded the District Police Srinagar for this initiative and said that it would bring down crime against women and prevent crimes like the recent acid attack.

DIG Central Kashmir Sujit Kumar said that these squads will patrol around the school, college and coaching center in Srinagar. Apart from this, he will also keep an eye on such places where there may be a danger to women, he said. He said that these squads will also keep in touch with the management of educational institutions so that immediate action can be taken in case of any emergency. Each squad will consist of five women policemen or officers.

In addition, a dedicated women's helpline number 9596770601 was also launched by the Srinagar Police. This number is already operational 24x7 for issues related to the safety of women.

The DIG said that both these squads would work closely with the police control room vans, the police stations of the concerned area and the Mahila Thana Rambagh. Women will work in constant liaison-coordination with the police station.

The SSP of Srinagar has already assured that crime against women will not be tolerated at all. Both preventive and corrective measures will be strictly implemented in this regard.

It may be mentioned that a few days ago, a case of attacking two women by entering the house in Mominabad Batamaloo has come to the fore. After which the police took immediate action and arrested one of the accused. While the other escaped. He too was later caught with the help of the people. The arrested accused were identified as Umar Yusuf Wani, resident of Firdousabad Batmaloo and Habeel Yasin, resident of Dal Colony, Bemina.
