Helicopter Crash: All
13 dead bodies including India's first Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat, his
wife Madhulika have been brought to Delhi in a helicopter crash in Coonoor,
Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. After this accident, Group Captain Varun Singh is
fighting for life and death in the hospital. All 13 bodies have been
brought to Delhi by Indian Air Force's C-130J Super Hercules transport
aircraft. Tributes are being paid in a short time to CDS General Bipin
Rawat, his wife and 11 others in Palam technical area. VVIPs have started
arriving at Palam Airport.
Three bodies including
General Rawat, his wife and Brigadier LS Lidder were identified. The
Indian Army had issued a statement saying that only after positive
identification, the body would be handed over to the relatives. After the
process of positive identification is completed, proper military rites of all
personnel will be ensured in consultation with close relatives.
The Indian Army had told
that in addition to scientific methods, the help of close family members would
be taken for positive identification. The Indian Army has also said that
the seriousness of the air crash has made it difficult to identify the bodies. Keeping
in mind the sensitivity and feelings of the loved ones, all possible measures
are being taken for positive identification.
Before the body reached
Delhi, the body of General Rawat and others were brought by ambulance from
Madras Regimental Center in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu to Sulur airbase. On
the roads through which the ambulance passed, there was a huge crowd of people
on both sides of the road. People showered flowers on the ambulance and
raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
