India Today Impact: TDP offers help to 8-yr-old Andhra boy and visually impaired parents
After India Today reported about 8-year-old Gopal Krishna driving an e-auto to feed his visually impaired parents, TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh came forward to help the family.
Hours after India Today reported about an
eight-year-old boy driving an electric auto to feed his visually impaired
parents in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor, TDP national general secretary Nara
Lokesh announced to offer them help.
Making the announcement on Twitter on Friday,
MLC Nara Lokesh said that his party would be getting the child admitted to
school besides helping the family cover the auto's EMI cost through a
fundraiser towards which TDP will contribute Rs. 50,000.
Chittoor is the home district of
Chandrababu Naidu, and he represents Kuppam Assembly constituency of the
district.
Earlier
in the day, India Today had reported that Gopal Krishna drives the e-auto
to make ends meet as his parents sell groceries in Chandragiri town, which is
not enough to feed the family. He is the eldest sibling in the family.
A student of Class III, Gopal,
drives the vehicle in his free time and is seen taking his mother and father to
the spot where they sell groceries in his school uniform every day.
Parvati, Gopal's mother, has
appealed to the government to help her children in completing their education.
"We
want the government to increase our pension. Currently, we get only Rs 3,000 as
a pension. We would be grateful if the government also provides us with a house
and help in the education of our kids," Parvati urged.
Recently,
police caught Gopal for underage driving but released the vehicle after getting
an assurance that he would not drive it again.
