Accused of selling in Gujarat hanged in police custody, died

According to the information, during the checking of vehicles, the police of B division police station of Panchmahal district had recovered from a vehicle. The police had sent the recovered meat for examination. In the investigation, the meat recovered by the police was confirmed to be beef. Police took action on confirmation of the confiscated beef and arrested 32-year-old Qasim Abdullah, the vehicle owner.

Panchmahal police was interrogating Qasim. According to the police, Qasim committed suicide by hanging himself in the lockup with the help of a sheet. At the same time, Qasim's family members have alleged that the police was torturing him. A relative of Qasim said that when he reached the police station at 8 in the morning, no officer was present there who could give information regarding Kasim's death.

Qasim's relative said that when he came to the police station earlier, Kasim had told me that the police was torturing and pressurizing me to accept the charge of supplying beef. The police have started investigation by registering a case of suicide in this case and also the post-mortem of Kasim was done through a panel of expert doctors.
