New Delhi: The country's Chief Labor Commissioner DPS Negi examined the implementation of labor laws and labor codes in the ongoing development projects in Leh. Along with the local laborers, he also listened to the problems of the workers from Jharkhand, Bihar and Nepal.

Negi during the last two days in separate meetings with the Project Officers of UT Ladakh, POWERGRID, NHPC, BRO, CPWD, BPCL, IOCL, HPCL, NHIDCL and AAI inquired about the present labor problems at their project sites. of. He also studied the various activities started there.

Negi met workers from Jharkhand, Bihar, Nepal as well as local Ladakh workers at Karutungse and Pangong Road and inquired about their well being. Negi told them about their rights in detail.

Senior officers in-charge of the projects informed the Chief Labor Commissioner regarding compliance of various labor laws. Negi expressed satisfaction over the compliance status of labor laws on their projects. Negi told the officers and contractors about the importance of implementation of labor laws and new labor codes. He appealed to the workers to register themselves in the NDUW portal to be set up for the migrant workers. The Ministry of Labor and Employment is going to launch this portal soon. Negi appreciated the design of the proposed shelter sites to be procured by the project officials.
