Milkha Singh died at the age of 91, PM Modi expressed grief

 


India's great athlete Milkha Singh has passed away. Let us tell you, Milkha Singh got corona a few days ago. After which he died on Friday night. Earlier, his wife and former Indian volleyball team captain Nirmal Kaur also died due to corona infection.

 

”Milkha Singh was 91 years old. He has been awarded the Padma Shri. He is survived by his son golfer Jeev Milkha Singh and three daughters.”

 

According to his family, "Milkha Singh died around 11.30 am. It happened at 30 o'clock." His condition was bad since evening and oxygen had also decreased along with fever. He was admitted to the ICU of PGIMER, Punjab. 

 

PM Modi condoles the death of Milkha Singh

 

While condoling the death of India's great sprinter Milkha Singh, PM Narendra Modi said that India has lost such a great player whose life will continue to inspire the budding sportspersons.

 

The PM wrote in his tweet, 'In the passing of Milkha Singh ji, we have lost a great player who had a special place in the hearts of countless Indians. He was loved by millions with his inspiring personality. I am hurt by his demise.

He further wrote, 'I spoke to Shri Milkha Singh ji a few days back. I didn't know it would be our last thing. Many budding sportspersons will be inspired by his life. My condolences to his family and his fans across the world.

A four-time Asian Games gold medalist, Milkha had also won a gold medal in the 1958 Commonwealth Games. Milkha Singh also represented India in 1956 and 1964 Olympics. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1959 for his outstanding performance on the field.
