Odisha To Set Up Child-Friendly Police Stations

Bhubaneswar:  The Odisha government on Tuesday decided to set up 34 child-friendly police stations across the state in a bid to reduce mental pressure on children who need to visit police stations for some reason, an official statement said. Each child-friendly police station will have beds, chairs, tables, toys and first aid kits for children. 2 army personnel killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district

Two army personnel were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday. "In an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the general area of Nar Khas forest in Mendhar sub-division, there was an exchange of fire between army troops and terrorists during the evening hours of Thursday," a defence public relations officer (PRO) was quoted as saying in a PTI report. Two army personnel were critically injured  in the exchange of fire and they succumbed to their injuries on Friday. Meanwhile, one junior commissioned officer (JCO) went missing. Officials said that efforts are being made to trace the missing JCO but the area is prone to danger. The two deceased army personnel have been identified as riflemen Vikram Singh Negi (26) and Yogambar Singh (27). Rifleman Negi was a resident of Viman village in Uttarakhand's Tehri Garhwal district while rifleman Singh hailed from Chamoli district's Sankari village in Uttarakhand.

Taking suo motu cognizance of the violence that erupted in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri, the SC has listed the matter for hearing on Thursday. The Supreme Court of India has taken Suo Motu cognizance of the violence that claimed eight lives in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. Listed before a bench of the Apex court headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana, the matter will be taken up on Thursday.
