INS Vikrant: Indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant has many special things, will be included in the naval fleet next year
INS Vikrant: In the year 2022, the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant will join the Indian Navy's combat fleet. Recently, sea trials were conducted on Vikrant for a full five days in the Arabian Sea.
INS Vikrant: On the occasion of 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned about the construction of the country's first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, from the ramparts of the Red Fort. In such a situation, today we take you to Kochi, where Vikrant has recently returned after his sea trials. After all, why does India need Vikrant and how is Vikrant going to increase the country's maritime power manifold? To know this, ABP News itself reached Vikrant. Vikrant will join the Indian Navy's combat fleet in 2022 next year.
A few days ago the whole world saw pictures of India's first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant moving from Kochi Harbor in Kerala towards the Arabian Sea at the southern end of the country. For the first time, the country's indigenous aircraft-carrier warship was taken out of the port and taken to the sea for a sea-trial. Sea trials were conducted on Vikrant for a full five days in the Arabian Sea. During this, operations from its engine and turbine to the helicopters to be deployed on it were successfully tested.
After five days, Vikrant has returned to the Cochin Shipyard. Now preparations are on to deploy fighter jets and helicopters to be deployed on Vikrant. By doing so, the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier ie IAC-Vikrant will join the Indian Navy's combat fleet. As soon as he joins the war fleet, his name will be INS i.e. Indian Naval Ship, Vikrant. But it may take some more time to do this. But before that, ABP News reached the Cochin Shipyard in Kochi, where the final touches of making the country's deadliest maritime weapon are going on.
We will tell you the story behind the making of the aircraft carrier Vikrant, but before that let us introduce you to its power. Actually, the strength of any aircraft carrier is the combat aircraft and helicopters deployed on it. The aircraft carrier works as a floating airfield in the ocean. Fighter jets and helicopters stationed on it monitor and protect the ocean several hundred miles away. If any enemy warship does not even try to hit the submarine around it. The top speed of Vikrant is 28 knots and it can cover a distance of 7500 nautical miles in one go. Fighter jets deployed on it can also cover a distance of one or two thousand miles.
30 fighter jets and helicopters will be deployed
The strength of any aircraft carrier is its flight-deck, that is, its runway. This is the reason why the team of ABP News first reached Vikrant's runway. It is about 262 meters long i.e. bigger than two football grounds. The width of Vikrant is about 62 meters and the height is 50 meters. According to information received by ABP News, about 30 fighter jets and helicopters will be deployed on India's indigenous aircraft carrier. These 30 aircraft will have 20 fighter planes and 10 helicopters. Of these 20 fighter jets, 12 will be 'MiG-29K' fighter jets sourced from Russia, which is known as Black Panther. Apart from 'MiG-29K', 08 will be India's indigenous 'LCA-Navy' aircraft or its own two-engine version ie TEDBF (Two-Engine Deck Best Fighter). However, the formation of TEDBF may take a long time. Both these aircraft are currently being made by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
Among the rotary wing aircraft that will be on Vikrant, there will be six anti-submarine helicopters, which will keep a special eye on enemy submarines. India has recently made a deal with the US for 24 such multi-mission helicopters, MH-60R ie Romeo Helicopter. Of these, two (02) Romeo helicopters have also been received by India. Apart from this, two reconnaissance helicopters and only two will be used in search and rescue missions.
The motto of the indigenous aircraft carrier Vikrant is 'Jayem Sam Yudhi Sprudha'. The meaning of this hymn taken from Rigveda is that if anyone comes to fight with me, I will defeat him. This new Vikrant has been named after the retired Indian Navy aircraft carrier Vikrant, which played a key role in the victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
India needs at least two aircraft carriers because India's maritime borders of about 7,000 km long are two-way. One is adjacent to the Bay of Bengal in the east and the other is adjacent to the Arabian Sea in the west. In such a situation, India needed two aircraft-carrier warships on two different fronts. Apart from this, India has a Special Economic Zone of about 23 lakh square miles in the Indian Ocean, to protect it, India needs two aircraft carriers. Recently India's INS Viraat aircraft carrier was also retired. In such a situation, the Indian Navy currently has the INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier, which India took from Russia in the year 2013.
Vikrant's first (commissioning) commanding officer, Commander Vidyadhar Harek, told ABP News that post-independence India's policy-makers conceptualized three (03) aircraft carriers for the country's navy as the largest number of any country's navy. Its great strength is its aircraft carrier. The Indian Navy also needs INS Vikrant because the effect of the ongoing dispute with China on the LAC is being seen in the Indian Ocean as well. The activities of Chinese warships and submarines have increased significantly in the Indian Ocean region. In such a situation, there is a dire need of Vikrant to rein in the activities of enemies.
power projection
After Vikrant reached the flight deck, the ABP News team reached the fly-co i.e. in flight-control. This flight-co works as the command and control center of Vikrant. Navy officials posted here said that when Vikrant joins India's war fleet and is deployed in the sea, many more warships will also operate with him. Vikrant will also do 'power projection' of India as a Carrier Battle Group (CBG) across India's maritime borders.
The fly-deck or runway of the Vikrant aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy has been prepared on skiing technology. This technique is also called as short takeoff but arrested recovery. This means that the takeoff through skiing from the short runway, because its runway is only 250 meters, so fighter jets will be landed on it with the Arrested Recovery Technique. Out of the total 30 aircraft deployed on Vikrant, 10 will be on the flight-deck at a time and the remaining 20 will be in a large hangar built in Vikrant itself. Two huge lifts have been built to bring fighter jets and helicopters from the hangar to the flight-deck.
The creation of the aircraft carrier Vikrant is a historic and proud moment for India as India joins the ranks of a select few countries that have the best of technology that can go from designing the state-of-the-art aircraft-carrier warships to manufacturing and manufacturing. can even equip him with weapons. So far only countries like America, Russia, China and Britain can build aircraft carrier warships. According to the Navy, this is also a unique example of 'Self-reliant India' and 'Make in India' because Vikrant is the largest warship of the country so far, which has been built by India itself. But its construction was not so easy.
The indigenous aircraft carrier Vikrant has been manufactured by Cochin-Shipyard. According to the Navy, despite the challenges of the Kovid epidemic, the Cochin Shipyard has achieved a milestone by starting the Sea-Trial. However, let us tell you that the current aircraft carrier INS Vikrant is running behind its schedule. The construction work of Vikrant started in the year 2009 and was 'launched' in the ocean for the first time in the year 2013. Vikrant has 75 percent indigenous equipment. Specially for this, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has prepared such steel which cannot rust. However, Navy Commander V Ganapathy said that Vikrant's design was ready in the 80s. But due to the decommissioning (retired) of the old Vikrant in 1997 and then the Kargil war, India felt the need for another aircraft carrier.
During the special coverage of Vikrant, the team of ABP News also reached inside Vikrant. Several meters below the sea, the turbine and engine also reached the room. Indigenous aircraft carriers have electric cables of about two and a half thousand kilometers long. That is, if the cable in it is laid, then it can reach Delhi from Kochi. Vikrant has 150 km long pipes and 2000 valves. For the last 11 years, a team of about 2000 engineers, workers and technicians worked day and night to make it. Apart from this, communication system, network system, ship data network, guns, combat management system etc. are all indigenous. About 20 thousand crores have been spent in making Vikrant. By making Vikrant, more than 50 Indian companies associated with Cochin Shipyard and about 40 thousand indirect jobs have been found.
will make golden history
The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOCNC) of the Indian Navy's Southern Command, Vice Admiral AK Chawla, told ABP News that Vikrant has 76 percent indigenous content. This is the largest ship of the Indian Navy's war fleet so far, which weighs about 40 thousand tons. He believes that the new Vikrant will create golden history for India and the Indian Navy in the coming times and whenever there is a challenge, he will not only face it, but will also rid the enemies of sixes. 1700 sailors can be deployed on INS Vikrant. Special arrangements have been made for women sailors in indigenous aircraft carriers. During the first sea-trial, six women officers were stationed on it.
