Ghaziabad: All-Women Police Team Carries Out First-Ever Encounter, Nabs 22-Year-Old Criminal After Gunfire

A team of all-women police officers in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, conducted their first-ever armed encounter late at night near Lohia Nagar, resulting in the arrest of a 22-year-old wanted criminal named Jitendra.

In a first-of-its-kind action,  an all-women police team in Ghaziabad engaged and arrested a 22-year-old wanted criminal framed in numerous theft and robbery cases following a gunfight on Sunday night.

Police said on Sunday when officers halted the accused, identified as Jitendra, son of Nandkishore and a resident of Vijay Nagar, during a routine check, he did not stop attempting to evade capture and fell off the vehicle.

When police ordered Jitendra to surrender, he allegedly fired his weapon at the officers. The police responded and injured him before taking him into custody.

As per Senior Police Officer Upasana Pandey, Jitendra is associated with multiple incidents of snatching, robbery and automobile theft. During questioning, he confessed to stealing motorcycles and scooters throughout the Delhi-NCR area, as well as snatching mobile phones and other valuables.

The police recovered a country-made pistol (.315 bore) with one live and one empty cartridge, as well as a stolen scooter, a mobile phone, and a tablet, according to a Times Of India. Later, investigators confirmed that the scooter was also reported stolen from Delhi in the previous year; both the mobile phone and the tablet were reported stolen on Sunday from the Crossing area of the police station.
